AIA Extra: City of Pensacola Sustainable Initiatives Update

Our second AIA Extra event of 2021 will feature Mark Jackson, City of Pensacola Sustainability Coordinator. The role of sustainability coordinator is a recently added position within the City government, and was created last year to address issues related to sustainability and resiliency. Mr. Jackson will discuss the City’s Sea Level Rise Vulnerability Assessment and the new City target of 30% renewable energy by 2030, among other topics. Please bring your own lunch.

Calling all CANchitects and CANgineers! Assemble your build team and help us Demolish Hunger, Design Hope in this year's PensaCAN competition.
PensaCAN is a competition where teams create impressive structures made entirely out of full cans of food. Following a week-long display of the structures and voting, all food is then donated to Manna for distribution to our neighbors in need in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
Registration is open to ANYONE...architects, intern architects, engineers, designers, contractors, local businesses, professors, teachers, students, or anybody, anywhere, that wants to form a team and help the local community.
Registration closes September 10.

Did you know that AIA Florida Northwest has funds available for scholarships to augment the participation costs in community leadership development programs that exist within our chapter region? Our intent is: 1) to increase the numbers of our members engaged in these programs, 2) to obtain tools, insights and relationships that will benefit our profession as a whole, and 3) to then create connections within our chapter communities demonstrating the value of architects in leadership roles.
